Southport Park Association announces new president

Lydia Spottswood was recently elected president of the Southport Park Association (SPA). A seasoned board member, Lydia takes over the reins from Susan Andrea-Schlenker who has served as president over the past decade.

Lydia says she’s humbled to be following in Susan’s footsteps.  “Her leadership inspired the creation of our not-for-profit organization and fueled our partnership with the City of Kenosha in the historic preservation and environmental stewardship of Southport Beach House and Park.  I look forward to help bringing our shared vision to fruition.”

Susan, along with her passion, will remain on the SPA board.  “I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have served as president of SPA,” says Susan.  “While I step back from my former role, my commitment to our mission and community remains unwavering.”

Mitchell Pederson joins board

SPA also welcomes new board member, Mitchell Pederson. Formerly Kenosha’s City Council Chair of Public Works, Mitch has long championed beach house restoration and family-friendly recreational improvements in Southport Park.  His strong  background in municipal operations will enhance our working relationship with the City of Kenosha.
